Am I the only one digging in their purse to find keys? Is anyone else looking for that receipt to return an item? Why is it so hard to find that one spice a recipe calls for in the grocery store? We, as human beings, are always looking for something. We’re sitting at the red light looking for the green so we can go! We’re looking at the clock because every minute of every day is planned. We’re looking for a plumber. We’re looking for that specific shirt our child asked for. We’re just looking around everywhere! Quite frankly, it’s exhausting. Looking around from left to right all day pulls on every ounce of energy you have. How often are we giving ourselves a break and looking up?

“I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬) We need help! We don’t need anything else added to our “to do” list. We need a mental break! Looking to The Lord and remembering that He is all sufficient helps calm your mind. He is constantly watching over you. He wants to be involved in your day to day activities. We tend to consult Him when the going gets tough, but He wants to be involved before things get tough! Having a five minute conversation with Him could literally be the prevention plan from the chaos. “I will lead blind Israel down a new path, guiding them along an unfamiliar way. I will brighten the darkness before them and smooth out the road ahead of them. Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake them.” (‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬) This definitely sounds like chaos prevention to me! Unlike us, He has the power to smooth things out before we get to them. He is the light that brightens the path. He just wants to be invited on the journey. This is doing daily life with Him. This is how He designed us to function.

The Lord has always wanted to be personal to us. He wants a relationship with each of us. He wants us to look to Him before we look to the overwhelming tasks of the day. He will make things better doing them His way with His advantages. “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬) Yes, He’s always there in tough times. He’d also like to be consulted about the good times. Ask Him to help you find the spice at the grocery store easily. Ask Him to bring to your remembrance where you laid the keys. This is the daily relationship that He wants. Things will go so much smoother when you just involve Him. We try to be so “independent”. God’s ways are different. He wants us to be dependent on Him. Let’s face it, He sees the whole picture of life. We just see a glimpse!

Relationships involve interaction. He so desperately wants to communicate with you. Stop whatever it is that you’re doing at some point and listen! Everything will flow smoother and you will be refreshed. You’re talking to the Creator of the universe! There’s nothing greater than that. If you need answers and guidance, believe me, He’s got them! What more could you be looking for?

Allergy season is here. Every year the pollen seems to be worse than the year before. I load up on the nasal sprays, ear drops and the antihistamines. As rough as the season is on my physical senses, things sure look pretty. The sun seems brighter, bees are flying...

I remember growing up riding in the car with my parents. I always wanted the radio on. We didn’t have music playlists on our phones like we do now. We didn’t even have cell phones. If we were fortunate, we had a tape player in our car where we could listen to our...
