Oh my goodness, the frustration of sitting in a waiting room! It’s just awful. Everyone is there waiting their turn. People are looking at their watches knowing that they’re already behind schedule. The people that were there before them haven’t been called back yet. It is just so frustrating. What about the restaurant wait time? They said thirty minutes and it’s already been forty-five! The red lights, the grocery store line and of course the road construction on the interstate that you didn’t know about until you got on the entry ramp. We spend so much of our lives waiting. We really have no choice. Everything is so busy! We can get anxious or stay in peace. Either way, we have to wait.

We, especially in America, seem to have a microwave mentality. We want it now. We don’t need the details of the story – just “bottom line” it. No time for a process, this needs to be finished immediately! That’s all fine, but we’re not in charge. We may try to operate that way but we’re not going to push our agendas on Almighty God. He is certainly not limited to our timetable. He created time. His creation will never have the power to overcome Him. He has a plan. His plans are good and they will take as much time as He has “planned”.

God’s plans involve Him preparing us. It’s like the fifteen year old that wants so badly to drive. They don’t want a parent in the car with them. They truly think freedom comes by sailing down the highway alone. But, how many of us know that the preparation is completely necessary? They don’t want to hear that, but the fact that they don’t quite understand traffic laws is evident. They need the guidance of a more experienced driver to coach them for a period of time for safety. We need The Lord to coach us. “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬) Jesus is explaining to us that we are to come up under Him and let Him lead and guide us. He wants to teach us so we are doing life in a way that keeps us in safety and peace. He doesn’t want us tied up in knots.

What if you’ve been praying for something and it seems like it’s taking forever? Could you possibly see over time how God has been getting you ready for this very thing that He’s placed in your heart? Maybe you weren’t ready two years ago for whatever it is. It could have been your downfall then. Maybe now you’re seeing more clearly and God has equipped you for whatever this journey may be. Yes, it’s taken time, but God is concerned about all aspects of your life. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬) Rest assured, He’s not just concerned about what you want right now. He’s concerned about your whole future. There’s so many examples in The Bible where people got tired of waiting and tried to get ahead of God. Don’t do this. Learn by their examples. It just creates more frustration. Let Him lead and guide you. The process is worth it. You’ll appreciate “whatever” so much more because you’ll be mature enough to handle it. You’ll be equipped for any obstacles. You will have also, at this point, spent quality time with The Lord learning His ways. It becomes a much better situation that He’s prepared you for.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” (‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬) The beauty comes in His timing. It will be the right time. It will all be made right in the waiting.

Allergy season is here. Every year the pollen seems to be worse than the year before. I load up on the nasal sprays, ear drops and the antihistamines. As rough as the season is on my physical senses, things sure look pretty. The sun seems brighter, bees are flying...

I remember growing up riding in the car with my parents. I always wanted the radio on. We didn’t have music playlists on our phones like we do now. We didn’t even have cell phones. If we were fortunate, we had a tape player in our car where we could listen to our...
