I remember as a kid going to the dentist. I wasn’t scared or anything like that. My dentist was super nice. I just remember getting my cleaning, x-rays and flossed, then heading to the treasure chest. The bank gave lollipops. The dentist, being anti sugar, had the all amazing treasure chest! You could open it up and pick anything in there that you wanted. To a child, it was like taking you to a toy store. The stuff in that container was extremely inexpensive to say the least, but it was a treasure! You got to specifically pick the item that suited your taste and personality. Then I, being the boisterous child I was, would go around all day and show off my “trophy”. Good memories.

Did you know that God, Himself, has given us a treasure chest? It’s His very Word. Both written and in the flesh. “So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” (‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬) We, as God’s children, can go to The Bible and/or Jesus every day and find treasure. As an adult, a miniature slinky isn’t going to help me very much. But oh how The Lord made sure I have treasure available to me 24/7 that will sustain me in life.

Life duties can be hard. We have jobs, families, deadlines etc. We have loved ones that get sick. We have big life decisions to make. Do we take the family and move to another state for this position? Do we buy the new house? Do I have the surgery? These are big, life altering situations and throwing a dart at the board blindfolded is not your best answer. You need real direction based on The One who already has your future laid out anyway. Open up the treasure chest! Everything in The Bible is still relevant today. It’s not just a book of old. It’s a manual for human living. Things have certainly changed in this world, but humanity has not. “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” (‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

The Word of God is alive and well! You can get into it and ask Jesus (the living Word) to show you what you need. This, my friends, is treasure! It exposes our thoughts and desires and then directs us supernaturally. You don’t need “self help” with important decisions. You need God’s help that is completely rock solid. Put the big decisions in His capable hands. This brings freedom.

When I got the goods from the treasure chest at the dentist’s office, I told people about it. I was proud. In the same way, tell others about what God’s Word has revealed to you and how The Lord directed your path. He’s no respecter of people. What He does for you, He will do for someone else. He specifically tailors each need individually. This testimony builds other’s faith and gives them hope. Hope is found in the treasure chest of The Lord. This world is desperately looking for that. Nowhere else can it truly be obtained. “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT)‬‬

The dental visits were twice a year. Jesus is all day every day. Don’t worry. Don’t fret and lose sleep. Make a conscious decision to open the treasure chest and see what special gift God has for you.

There’s something interesting about midnight. At that very moment, yesterday dies and tomorrow is here. It may not seem like tomorrow because midnight is the darkest hour, humanly speaking, of the day. The void of light causes your hardships to amplify. Your...

Allergy season is here. Every year the pollen seems to be worse than the year before. I load up on the nasal sprays, ear drops and the antihistamines. As rough as the season is on my physical senses, things sure look pretty. The sun seems brighter, bees are flying...
