I was in a church service years ago and the atmosphere was electric! The praise and worship seemed to be in such unison that The Lord just showed up. People were clapping and praising our God with vitality and genuine thankfulness. The Pastor walked up to the podium and then asked “who wants to see miracle working power?!” We all clapped, and of course shouted back that we indeed did. Then he asked, “Who in here believes He is capable?!” Again, “We did!” Next, he asked, “Who wants impossible situations?!” Crickets. What?! No hands went up. No shouts of praise. No clapping. It’s then that the pastor hit us with the hard facts. God only does miracles in impossible situations. That’s what makes them miracles! He can do what man cannot. He’s God!

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’) (‭Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ NLT). The only one who can rearrange the laws of nature He created was He, Himself. I would definitely call a virgin birth a miracle! That’s a pretty hard one to explain. And what about the Red Sea? Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side! (‭Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭21-22‬ NLT) I don’t know about you, but I’ve never walked through a body of water that literally parted ways to get me safely across! Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying (‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭5-6‬ NLT). Yes! Our Lord is alive! He’s alive and well and still doing miracles today. I hope this encourages you like it does me.

We face many trials here in this broken world. Jesus, Himself, said we would. But guess what? He has overcome everything you have or will ever face and conquered it! Even death itself! I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ NLT) Don’t miss the first part. He wants our peace to be in Him. We can only be at peace in what seems like impossible situations if we stay focused on Him. If we elevate the problem above Him and place “it” on the throne, “it” will rule our minds and cause nothing but anguish. If we keep Jesus seated in His rightful place on the throne, He will rule it and keep us at peace.

We, as humans, have a tendency to try to figure everything out. News flash – we can’t!  We’re not that smart. No offense to any scholars out there, but our finite minds just aren’t capable of doing so. God made us that way so we would rely on Him. Where do you run to when you’re in trouble or a terrible situation has occurred? There are some things money can’t fix. There are certain issues that hard working medical professionals just can’t figure out. But we do have The Answer! His name is Jesus and He stands ready to help any time you’re willing to let go of trying to figure it out and pass it off to Him. He’s the great “I AM!” It’s like He’s saying, “If you need peace, I AM THAT!” “If you need help with finances, I AM THAT!” “If you’re having trouble with an important relationship and need a counselor, I AM THAT!” He cannot be contained to our human reasoning. He’s I AM!

You’re going to come to a crossroads at some point in your life where you have to make hard decisions. Are you going to rely on you or Him? Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take (‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5-6‬ NLT). This is His guarantee from His Word that never fails. This is the best solution. Hands down. No doubt! So, you can elevate the problem or you can elevate The Solution. The choice is totally yours. Rest assured, Jesus wants to be involved. He loves you. Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” (‭Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭27‬ NLT)

Sit For A While

My little cat loves to just sit in my lap. It’s his favorite place to be. If I sit in this certain chair, he jumps up there. If I’m there an hour, he’s there an hour. It’s like his whole agenda hinges on when I’m in the chair. He watches me wherever I am to see if I’m...

Cast Your Cares

I love analogies. I love to get a picture in my mind that completely explains a point. My husband likes to fly fish. It’s quite different from fishing with a rod and reel. There seems to be a different art to it. When you cast out, there’s a lot going on with the...
