It seems like everywhere you go nowadays, people are hiring. Help Wanted signs are literally in every place of business. Whether it’s retail, restaurant or corporate settings, people in management positions need help. So many people do so many jobs online now from home that there hardly seems to be any physical people in places of business. Companies seem to be willing to pay a premium just to get people there. I’m not trying to be critical because I’m thankful for the people who are keeping establishments open but the employees definitely realize they have the upper hand. They know they’re desperately needed so sometimes it seems like the old fashioned “customer service” is not quite there. I get it. Too much to do and too few people to do it. Again, not complaining. It’s just an observation of the lifestyle we live in today.

This new way of doing business is definitely our world’s system. I was thinking about this the other day and realized that times have changed. However, God’s ways and standards have not. “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” (‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV) His standards are that of perfection. We, in and of ourselves, do not encompass the skill set for His kingdom. Fortunately, we don’t have to. We don’t submit our application to a company. We submit to Him. The very best we could ever do is still not enough. If we’ve stepped over that line of faith and made Jesus our Lord, we get to turn in His resume as if it were our very own. You see, He’s not trying to get anything from us. He’s trying to get something to us. He doesn’t have to have anything we could offer. He wants us in His family. It’s completely counterintuitive to the way the world works. And the wages are too amazing to be counted!

“Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you.” (‭‭Job‬ ‭22‬:‭21‬ ‭NLT‬‬) He’s not looking for your service. He’s looking for a heart turned towards Him that will result in wanting to serve. He just wants a relationship with us. He’s not trying to be a “taskmaster”. Jesus has already done all the work. He wants to be Lord. He wants to rearrange us from the inside out. “Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?” (‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬) This is certainly not what we can do for Him. He wants to bring us to Himself and teach and advise us.

To qualify for His Kingdom only takes faith in Jesus and an understanding that we simply don’t measure up without His covering. “As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous— not even one.” (Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬) Not one single individual to ever walk the earth has met The Father’s glorious standards except for Jesus. Only Him! He so desperately wants you in His family that He freely gave us right standing with The Father when we absolutely did not do one thing to earn it. “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬) He loved us and wanted us in the family when we weren’t even looking for Him. This kindness blows me away!

So we need not even try to apply to this everlasting Kingdom with our accolades. We don’t have anything that God hasn’t given us. Instead, we apply His principles to our hearts and reap the rewards we did not or could not earn. “I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant” ‭‭(John‬ ‭4‬:‭38‬ ‭NLT‬‬) Jesus has already secured your place in the highest Heaven. He even put The King’s seal of approval on you if you belong to Him. “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬) What an amazing promise! Again, this has nothing to do with our resume. It’s all about The Application.
