We live in a world today where supplies literally are at your fingertips. If you’re holding a technical device, you can order just about anything and have it delivered to you. It could be clothes, medication or even groceries. As long as you’re willing to type in your credit card information, an email address and phone number, whoever is on the other end is already working on getting your supplies to you. The most important information to include is your address. The supplier has to know where the goods are going. It doesn’t matter if you’ve already paid for the supplies. You will not get them without including the correct address. 

“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.” (‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭36‬:‭26‬-‭27‬ ‭NLT‬‬) The Lord is speaking about Jesus coming and then sending His Holy Spirit to indwell you. Is that not incredible? The address of The Holy Spirit of God is you! There is no trying to figure out what to do anymore without immediate help. The Holy Spirit is our guide in life. We’re never having to wait for delivery. He literally takes up residence in the believer. This is such amazing news! What a gift! The Holy Spirit does not bring baggage from the world. He brings the very Word of God to live and operate inside of you. He brings God’s Words and ways to your mind exactly when you need them. 

Before Jesus was taken away from the disciples and crucified, He gave them important information. “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.” (‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬) Jesus was of course referring to the coming of The Spirit. He was explaining the good news that this would be the new way they would communicate. Since The Holy Spirit would literally be living inside of us, we would have direct access to come before a Holy God ourselves! We get our direction, protection and life correction from the very One living inside of us. When we make Jesus our Lord, He sends The Spirit to take up residence in us so that we are never without help. When Jesus walked the earth, He could only be at one place at a time. Now, He’s able to be with every believer all of the time anywhere on earth. I know that we, as humans, cannot comprehend the magnitude of this gift. Jesus is the supplier of every one of life’s answers to mysteries and questions. He gets answers to you because The Spirit lives inside of you. The “supplies” go to the correct address. These are the supplies that we need for our souls to function correctly. We need peace in the chaos. We need shelter in the storms. We need to know when to go and when to stay. Do I take that job or not? Is this the person I’m supposed to marry? The Holy Spirit leads and guides us into all truth. Without the Spirit, you are left to your own devices. We don’t know the future, but The One living inside of us does. We can count on Him to always intervene where we are deeply troubled or perplexed. 

Jesus didn’t leave us to try to navigate this harsh world by ourselves. He is with us every step of the way and supplies every breath we literally take. How could life be done without something rock solid to count on? “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭NLT‬‬) He has defeated everything that could ever harm us or happen to us. He did it so that even though we go through hardship, it ultimately will not defeat us if we belong to Him. He will always supply the “goods” to His people. He watches over us constantly. He knows the address of every single one of us.
