We are just human beings living on this huge planet called “earth”. There’s so much life around us. Little creatures scurrying around, birds flying, babies learning to walk etc. The mere fact that we’re breathing and speaking to one another is amazing in itself. The One who planned all of this, that we actually can experience, must be an all encompassing entity that our brains cannot exactly fathom. He is an all sufficient Being, but this all sufficient One wanted desperately to be in an unending relationship with us. How can it be? And yet, it is!
Jesus came to the earth He created to show us The Way to The Father’s eternal home. He didn’t just put us here to take up oxygen. There is meaning and purpose to your life! “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” (Psalms 42:7 NIV) The deepest part of our being longs for a love that is not in an activity, a place or another loved one. This deep chasm can only be filled by something even deeper that placed the need there in the first place. Our deepest need is to know the very One who created us and knows every hair on our head. It’s crazy to think that there’s someone that knows us better than we know ourselves, but Jesus does! He knew when we would be born, and He knows when we will take our last breath on this earth. He has every single one of us here, at this place, for such a time as this. He has a plan and we’re part of it! The plan is to create a living family that will never again experience any sort of hardship.
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.’” (John 14:6-7 NIV) Jesus was speaking to his disciples. He was explaining to them that He is the total representation of The Father. Yes, He was there in person. He’s alive and well and with the Father now. We haven’t seen Him with our eyes but we have the testimonies of countless witnesses throughout history that have laid their very lives down because of their unwavering faith in Him. He went to The Father so He could send The Holy Spirit to each of us who would accept Him as our Lord. So, if you’ve stepped over that line of faith, He’s literally with you wherever you go. You never have to be alone and you’re always understood by The One that will never ever leave you. It’s so simple yet so hard to fully understand. Our human brain doesn’t work that way. Our minds can’t fully contain who He is but His intervention in this world shows His all encompassing power. Just a prayer of a small innocent child to Jesus produces results. He steps into the “impossible” and makes things possible. His Name interjected in a horrific situation produces amazing results! If He were not who He said He was, none of this could happen. We would merely just have to wish. But no – we have a real Savior just waiting to be invited into any and every situation we will ever find ourselves in.
We have this relationship with Jesus through faith. “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” (Hebrews 11:1 NLT) We can’t see Jesus, but oh how we see and experience the effects of Him! As we walk through life with Him, He grows and stretches our faith as He works in our personal lives. This is how we come to love Him, trust Him and ultimately rely on Him. He wants this for His family. He doesn’t want us to be independent. He wants us to always be completely dependent on Him.
He loves us with an everlasting love. Our performance on a daily basis is not an interview for His affection toward us. He knows we’re human. He knows we live in a fallen world. He knows life is hard and full of disappointments. “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” (2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT) We have His promises and they are sure. We can talk with Him any time we want and He works behind the scenes on our behalf. Just look for what He’s doing to change things for the better in your life. Believe me, He never stops working! We find our personal joy in living by seeing The Unseen.
