Everyone seems to have that one special sports figure that they just can’t miss watching. There’s always that movie star that you make sure you see every film they appear in. And what about tickets to that upcoming concert? Absolutely! Count me in. God has certainly given talents to people and we get to admire those talents for sure. But isn’t it interesting that He sees every single one of us just as talented as the other? Now our talents may be different than one another’s, but we are all talented. Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism.” (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10‬:‭34‬ NLT) Did you get that? No favoritism! So yes, you are talented!

The question then becomes, what are you going to do with your talent? The most famous person to ever walk the earth, Jesus, has equipped you for this life. He most certainly changed the world by doing what the Father had for Him. Now, it’s our turn. Once, some folks who were jealous of Paul and Silas’ zeal for the Lord said, “Jason has welcomed them into his home. They are all guilty of treason against Caesar, for they profess allegiance to another king, named Jesus.” (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ NLT) Paul and Silas had been spreading the good news about Jesus. Most everyone had heard of them, but we see here that Jason had welcomed them into his home. This kind act of hospitality put Jason’s name in the best selling book of all time! The Bible mentions Jason right along with Paul and Silas because they were all doing what the Lord had asked them to do. God truly does not play favorites. He’s given us all certain things to do and celebrates when we do them.

There’s a story I find most interesting in God’s Word. Some guys were trying to imitate the apostle Paul by trying to cast out an evil spirit “in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches.” But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied, “I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?” (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭19‬:‭15‬ NLT) The kingdom of darkness knew Jesus, of course. But, the kingdom of darkness also knew Paul! They knew Paul belonged to God and he was off limits to them. Paul was famous in the world we see and the world we cannot see. But notice that they didn’t know the other guys. This is where it is of vital significance to be under that umbrella of protection that Jesus offers His children. This IS the King that our allegiance should be placed in.

Don’t wait around for someone else to do what God has for you. He wants us to be blessed by our obedience to Him. Once, right before Jesus was arrested, He asked Peter, James and John to keep watch with Him. Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, “Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” (‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭40-41‬ NLT) The well meaning disciples fell asleep on the job. Human beings are all the same. Our flesh gets in the way of doing what our spirits tell us we should do. We’re still doing that today. We know we need to pray, read our Bible or make that call that He’s asking us to make, but we’re tired. Our humanity gets the best of us and we tell Jesus and ourselves that we’ll “do it later.”  Be intentional about your obedience immediately when the opportunity arises. You will be so blessed by being a part of what God’s doing.

Don’t be intimidated to use whatever gifts the Lord has given you. They are yours specifically for His reasons. Don’t entertain the lies of the enemy telling you that you have nothing to offer. Remember, if his lips are moving, whatever he’s saying is a lie! The darkness is afraid of what God’s given you. That’s proof enough that you are talented in certain areas and God’s calling you to be His ambassador to someone or some situation. Remember, “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” (1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ NLT) The Greater One is in us and prompting us. He will handle the details. You just be available. This is your time to be famous for The King’s sake!

Have you ever just not known what to do in a situation? Am I the only one who overthinks every possible outcome? I dwell on the “what ifs” for so long that the original decision becomes almost extinct. Why do we do this? I think, possibly, it’s because we are trusting...
