Have you ever been driving along a road and suddenly hit a deep pothole? You didn’t even know it was there. The road was smooth and all of a sudden, there it is! It jolts you for a minute but you keep driving. A little further down the road you realize something is not right. You seem to be fighting the steering wheel to keep the car from going left. Great. Now your car is officially out of alignment. Two choices. You can either just keep driving it the way it is and develop more costly damage to the vehicle or you can take it into a shop where a specialist can fix it. Life, in the same way, is like a road with sudden potholes. You’re smooth sailing and all of a sudden, a giant “pothole”. You didn’t see this coming! It jolts you alright. You somewhat get through, gather yourself and keep going. But life is different now. You’re fighting to stay centered. You are officially out of alignment. Now what? Do you just keep going hoping it will get better, or do you take it to The Specialist?

First of all, there’s so many things that can knock us out of alignment. We can get a bad doctor’s report. There’s sickness or even the death of a loved one. The wayward child, etc. The list is endless. Whatever jolts you and is keeping you up at night, this is not your area of expertise. If you knew exactly how to handle it, you wouldn’t be fretting over it. No, we’re not designed to handle these sort of issues alone. Our weakness is extremely evident when going through trials. Fortunately, Jesus is there with open arms beckoning for you to come. He wants to pick you up, dust you off and slowly get you back on your feet and in the game. “In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” (Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭NLT)‬‬ He stands ready to sort this out with you. He wants to. Your energy is gone. You need what He offers. He wants you to get back to a place of peace in your heart and mind.

Cars are different from people. They usually can be fixed instantly. They don’t have emotions, anxious thoughts or attachments. They’re just machines. Human beings are extremely complex. We can’t just take a dose of medication and make everything better. With us, healing, a lot of times, is a process. God knows the process each individual needs to walk through for their own personal healing. He will do this with you and for you if you invite Him to. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John‬ ‭14‬:‭27‬ ‭NIV)‬‬

Jesus is telling us two things here. Number one, true peace is only found in Him. Number two, the world’s way of peace is not the same as His, so there’s no need to be afraid. His peace is thorough. It will surpass fear right in the face of it. It offers a supernatural means to a Supernatural God that this world could never offer. Peace is your anchor in life’s turbulent waves. Whatever you have dealt with, whatever you’re going through now or whatever tomorrow holds, remember, there’s One who holds all the days. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬) When your circumstances change, He doesn’t. When you’re in fear, He isn’t. When you don’t know what to do, He does! Nothing catches Him off guard or by surprise. He knows exactly what you need when you need it. He is certain to get you back into alignment.
