Life gets so chaotic sometimes. There’s so much going on around us. It seems like our brains are bombarded with stimulation coming at us from every angle. It’s happening all the time! Get the lists made. Go to the bank. Go to the grocery store. Pick the kids up. Fold the laundry. Get to ball practice. It’s never ending and all of these places have their own level of noise and complications. There’s a line at the bank. The coach is asking for volunteers at practice. The stain didn’t come out of the shirt, etc. One thing leads to the next. It seems to be a never ending cycle!

We cannot escape life. We’re in it. Whatever season you find yourself in, life has its own set of challenges. What do we do? How do we calm the turmoil and still get everything accomplished? We surrender! No, don’t quit! Throw up your hands to The One who has the supernatural power to help you accomplish more by doing less. When we get frazzled, ordinary things seem way more complicated. Our tempers get tested and our attitudes become a little harsh. In this state of mind you’re not your best and it seems to take twice as long to get something done. Take a minute to invite Jesus into your day and let Him have the reigns. You don’t have to be in control. You’re really not in control anyway even if you’re convinced that you are. God made the day. It belongs to Him. You’re just in it. “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” ‭‭(Isaiah‬ ‭26‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

When we keep our mindset on The Lord and His plans and purposes for us, we stay in perfect peace. We trust Him to get us through the day as He sees fit. We look at the line at the bank as an opportunity to talk with Him and get fueled up or to send an encouraging text to someone going through a tough time. Letting Him lead you brings a sense of purpose and confidence. A three year old doesn’t worry about where he/she is going with their parent. They just go with them. They trust them and are excited to be with them. Jesus goes where you go. Know He’s there and enjoy His presence. Be thankful for the safety He brings to your life.

Peace is a powerful weapon. It makes you stronger and less vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks on your mind. “In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.” (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬) This shield of faith is the knowing and trusting that God is with you and fighting your battles for you. This brings peace and the “fiery arrows” of anxiety, doubt and condemnation cannot penetrate your mind. This is doing life God’s way, not ours. “God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Understanding that life is all around us and we have so many things to do can certainly stir up anxiety. The Lord knows we have people, jobs and assignments counting on us. He’s not asking us to not fulfill obligations. He’s wanting us to let Him make the crooked places straight. He wants us to be the best example for Him that we can be. This will only happen doing life in His power. “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” (‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬) He sees our life from a different vantage point. He knows all. We’re so much better off trusting His knowledge than our tiny bit of insight. Life will be more productive and the peace He brings will be powerful.
