Have you ever been around someone that just seems to light up a room?  It’s as though the atmosphere changes the moment they walk in. You can be in a bad mood and suddenly a smile appears just by seeing them. They seem to walk in with purpose. They walk in carrying hope. These people know The One with answers to life’s tough struggles. It’s not by accident. These people that transmit light are commissioned by God Himself. Jesus said in the book of Matthew (NLT) “You are the light of the world-like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”  They cannot contain this light inside of them. The Holy Spirit resides in them and literally lights up their paths wherever they go. Proverbs 4:18-18 (NKJV) says “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.”  The Bible is very clear that there are those who walk in light and those that stumble in darkness.

People that have Jesus in their lives give off a specific vibe. You immediately sense that inner glow by the kindness and grace that seems to pour out of them. God always has them right where they need to be when people need it most. He ministers through His people. The light is comfortable to be around. It just feels right!

People that are trying to find their own way in the dark don’t have the answers. They certainly can’t help you. They can barely find a way to help themselves. The light, sometimes, can be a turn-off to them. They’re usually a little afraid of it. Possibly scared of any exposure. I’ve noticed that what people don’t understand, they’re usually against. So, they get jealous and bitter of the light not realizing that they can have it too!  Jesus wants everyone to come to Him. However, some folks want to be “the king” of their own domain. This prideful lifestyle only leads to their demise.

It’s quite sad because Jesus is waiting there with open arms to bring them into His light. It’s like He’s shouting “I know your struggles. I see the pain. I know what it feels like to hurt. I see the cobwebs in every crevice of your life. Bring all of this to Me and let My Light shine on it!”  You know instinctively that this is what you want, but the devil whispers lies. He tries to tell you that you’re ok the way you are. You don’t need all of that “religion stuff.”  All the while, God’s got great plans for you. He’s put gifts and talents in you that nobody on this earth has. You’re an original! He’s just patiently waiting for you to accept His invitation.

So the tug of war within your soul continues. Bringing your darkness to an all knowing, all loving God of light would be the best decision you could ever make. After all, this world belongs to Him. He created it. Who could possibly be better to navigate your life than the One who created you?  It would certainly take a lot of pressure off of you. We’re not even designed to carry such weight!

John 1:5 says “the light shines in the darkness; and the darkness can never extinguish it.”  This is a guarantee that if Jesus is the Lord of your life, you will not be overcome by evil. Never!  The devil doesn’t have enough power in this world to put out the glow that the Lord has bestowed upon you. He can try and he will, but success for him is not an option. He is already defeated by Jesus Himself.

The Bible says in Psalm 112 that “Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man….He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”  So, the decision is ultimately yours to make. Light or darkness. Be a light in a dark world. God wants to use you and people need your giftings. He’s got amazing things in store for your future! Let Him turn on the light so you can see them!
