Do you ever feel like people are listening to you but they just don’t seem to understand what you’re saying? You are speaking plainly, but they just don’t get it. It’s not because they don’t comprehend what you’re saying. They may not have had the experience you have to develop the passion you have for whatever subject you’re trying to convey. For instance, you are in terrible pain from a surgery. Everyone wishes you well and brings food trying to help get you through this rough patch. However, there’s a disconnect when you try to explain your situation. They usually haven’t felt what you’re feeling. They don’t understand what it’s like to have trouble doing simple tasks because of the pain. It’s frustrating. However, when you do find someone who has been in your position, it’s a game changer! They get it! They understand and offer advice along with true, heartfelt sympathy. We, as humans, have a desire to be understood.
Nobody will ever be understood by anyone more than The One who made them. That’s a fact. “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.” (Psalms 139:1-2, 4 NLT) This is Almighty God! He knows it all. Our minds cannot comprehend how this is possible, but it is. His Word is true and we can rest on it forever. He knows everything about you. He understands how you feel. He knows your fears and anxieties. He knows what makes you laugh. He knows what makes you cry. He even knows how you’re going to respond to a situation. Jesus walked this earth to experience every aspect of the human condition so He would understand. He’s not some out of touch entity somewhere in the universe. He’s an up close, personal friend and Savior. He IS what you’re looking for in the darkest hour. He is the most excited when you celebrate an achievement. He hurts when you hurt. You’re His prized possession and His eyes are always on you. “For he said, ‘Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession.’” (Zechariah 2:8 NLT) He knows exactly where His people are and He will take care of them.
Our hearts long for people to understand us. We search horizontally for what can really only be found vertically. God wants us to comfort one another and be in community. Having said that, we cannot expect people to completely “carry” us. Other people are also in need of being understood at their core level. Only Jesus can do this for us. We have our personal experiences with Him and we share and encourage one another with our insight. They do the same. This builds up the family of God. Having said that, it’s only through personal relationship with Him that we have real solutions to offer. Everything else is just opinion. He IS THE TRUTH. He is the ultimate answer to your deepest questions and needs. “In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3 NLT).
Yes, life is full of peaks and valleys. No matter where you find yourself, Jesus already knows. You don’t have to wish that there was someone who understands your circumstances. The King of the universe already knows and already has an answer. Are you seeking Him first or consulting with every website that might pertain to your situation? Life would be so much easier if we went straight to The Source. He is The One that can quench your deepest desire.

❤️So good!
What a beautifully heartfelt message, Brandi! 💖 It’s so true that our deepest longings for understanding are met only through our relationship with God. Knowing He understands every pain and joy we experience is incredibly comforting. Thank you for sharing such a powerful reminder to seek Him in all circumstances! 🙌
