Has anyone ever heard a child learning to play an instrument? It’s quite entertaining, but not in a musically gifted way! The noises that often come forth from those instruments are anything but soothing. But hey, they have to start somewhere. I was trying to learn the recorder in 5th grade. My poor parents. We didn’t have a basement so my bedroom with a closed door became the venue. It was awful. I knew that thing could sound good because I had heard my music teacher play it. I, however, was not getting the same results. Time went on and I got a little better. “Mary had a little lamb” became my specialty and I was willing to play it for anyone who would listen. I kept my eyes and ears on my teacher and by the end, things weren’t so bad. People, like instruments, have to be fine tuned. We have to learn to march to the rhythm of The Conductor.
The Conductor knows what all of the instruments together should sound like. The trumpet isn’t a violin and the flute isn’t a cello but they all have their unique sounds. They all come together in harmony under the Conductor’s lead and wow the audience! He strategically places each one exactly where they need to be to make the most impact. The world is watching and waiting for the good news that pours forth from such a performance. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him (Philippians 2:13 NLT). This verse tells me that as an instrument in His Hand, all I have to do is keep my eyes on Him. He’s working in me to do what He wants. He’s causing me to be less self-absorbed and step out in His power to ultimately do what pleases Him. This is a sweet sound in the Heavenly realm. Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! (Psalms 150:1-2 NLT) This is the Hope a dying world needs. They need to know that there IS ONE capable of plucking them from this dark sin stained abyss.
When you fall in step with The Master, you can’t help but play a melodious tune. What you’re full of will naturally pour out. You will be music to a dying world’s ears when you agree to play in the Lord’s symphony. We have the power in Christ to drown out the negativity that’s being hurled at people every day. His sound of encouragement is triumphant over the death and decay all around us. People are searching everywhere to find such wonderful news! It’s not in a self-help book. It’s not found in other people. It’s Jesus! Not Jesus and….just Jesus!
Whatever tune He’s given you to play, belt it out! Time is of the essence. There’s an audience out there just waiting to know there’s hope. Join together with others to bring forth the sound of Heaven. Jesus loves people. He wants them to know this. He wants to use you. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? (Romans 10:13-14 NLT) Follow the Chief Conductor’s lead that knows the hearts of all and make beautiful music!
