Am I “blank” is the question. Am I able to do this? Am I strong enough to handle this situation? Am I being passed over for this promotion? Am I ever going to get out of this financial debt? Am I able to get my children on the right path? All of these questions are valid and are rooted in the unknown. A lot of the time, fear accompanies an uncertain future. We all question situations in life on a daily basis. My questions may not be your questions and vice versa but we all question. We search and scramble for answers and a lot of times create our own prisons of anxiety. What Am I going to do? It certainly feels overwhelming when you are in charge of outcomes. There’s too many unknown variables! Fortunately, we’re not in charge and no, we don’t have to understand everything. There’s One who does and He’s got this!

“God replied to Moses, ‘I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.’” (‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬ ‭NLT)‬‬ “I AM” is the very answer to the question “Am I?”. God could not give Moses a certain way to identify Him to people except to explain Himself as all encompassing! This very God who sent Moses with the delivering message back then IS the same God that will deliver you today! “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

He still is “I AM”. That breakthrough you so desperately need, the Lord is saying “I AM” that. The wisdom and guidance of whether to take the job offer out of state, He’s saying “I AM” that! What this means for you and I as His children is that we may be sinking in an endless sea of issues, but He’s already conquered all of them and stripped them of their power to overtake us. “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭NLT‬‬) If we belong to Him, He has literally given us His promise that if He’s an overcomer, then so are we!

Let’s use some practical examples of what the Great “I AM” is trying to get us to understand. You may ask “Am I ever going to be able to break this habit?” “I AM” says to you, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬) When you are a Christ follower, His promises in His Word become your victory statements. You can’t do “whatever” on your own, but with Him, you can! What was impossible before, now becomes possible. “Jesus looked at them intently and said, ‘Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.’” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭‭26‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

What a game changer! Am I ever going to pay off these bills? “I AM” reminds us, “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬) See? It’s not about what we can do in our own strength. God designed us to be completely dependent upon Him. This dependence deepens our faith when we witness the Great “I AM” do something on our behalf that we never thought possible. I think that’s why so many people struggle to the point of breaking. They only rely on themselves when Jesus has a treasure trove of promises for them to get through life’s hardships if they would just link up to Him.

Remember, we’re all going to have situations we sincerely see no way out of from time to time. The list is truly endless. The question will arise in your mind at some point. How Am I going to do this? The answer is, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬) So when the “Am I” inquiries start, turn to the all sufficient, all knowing and all caring “I AM” for His truths about your personal situations. He IS always the answer!
