Have you ever been to a special event that required you to really dress up? Those don’t come along too often anymore. It seems like we are getting more and more casual as time goes on. That’s fine. People like to be comfortable. I get it. I’m actually one of those people. Having said that, sometimes it is fun to dress up. It’s nice to have your hair and nails done, wear a little more makeup and a special piece of jewelry. Have you ever noticed that when you arrive at whatever function you’re attending, there’s always that one person that seemed to nail the perfect outfit? It may not be the fanciest. It may not be the most expensive. But, they just look amazing! It’s as if the clothes they are wearing were perfectly fitted for them and the occasion. Everything just works. It’s flawless. It’s easy and it’s just right. As amazing as this individual looks, it is incomparable with the divine plan God has for each of His children. “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.” (Matthew 6:28-29 NLT)
King Solomon, outside of the person of King Jesus, was the most wise person to walk the earth. God gave him wisdom that was unmatched and He granted him riches also. He did this because Solomon put his people before himself. He wanted true wisdom from God to govern God’s people. So as you can imagine, Solomon was well dressed. However, God’s Word tells us that even Solomon couldn’t compete with the lilies of the fields. God, not man, makes things beautiful. He is majestic. He is The Creator. “O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.” (Psalms 8:1 NLT) This Almighty, all powerful Creator has an individual plan for each individual. We are His prized possession! Let that sink in. Don’t hurry past this. You need to understand just how important you are to your Heavenly Father. He bankrupt Heaven to send Jesus to be your Savior. He clothes His children with righteousness. This means we have “right standing” with God, the Father if we say yes to Jesus.
The Bible describes Jesus as “to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” (I Corinthians 9:22 NKJV) Jesus is tailor made to fit your every need. He works in my life differently than He does in your life. Each of us is precious to Him and a wonderful work in progress. Let’s not get off track by comparing our gifts and talents to that of someone else’s. The Lord needs all of us to complete His kingdom. We all have our special part to play. Don’t envy those that use their gifts only for personal gain. The only reward they will receive is earthly. Aim to please The One Who has equipped and called you.
The enemy wants to divide and conquer. We, as the family of God, are better together. Time is of the essence. We don’t have time to quarrel over giftings. Just use what God has given you to bring glory to Him. He has this to say about you. “You are altogether beautiful, my darling, beautiful in every way.” (Song of Songs 4:7 NLT) This is what the Lord of the universe says about you! So, what if there’s things about you that you want to change? Let the Lord do the work. He desires to make you more and more like Him. He does not desire to make you more like someone else. He wants you to be the best “you” there is. He’s not made another like you. Embrace your special qualities. Use your God given talents to bless others. Don’t try to imitate others or be something you’re not. You are at your very best when you’re operating in what God has tailor made for you.
