I’m going to be honest. This year has rocked my world. I’m probably the oldest, ultimate daddy’s girl there is. He has just always had a way of handling me with my quirky personality that a lot of people just don’t. He’s always brought a sense of “calm” to all of my life situations. When I went into his room to wake him for breakfast, after coming home from surgery, and he didn’t respond, I was shaken to the core. Daddy was 77 years old and still worked like a 30 year old. There was nothing that I thought he couldn’t do. He was always in my corner and has looked out for me my whole life. I was beyond fortunate to have an earthly father that loved me unconditionally and would literally do anything for me. To say I wasn’t prepared to lose him, is an understatement. My world changed that spring day and it will never be the same. Having said that, God has been more than FAITHFUL. He has taught me things I never would have known about Him, my Heavenly Father, if my daddy had not gone to be with Him. Has it been hard? Extremely. But, God remains steadfast when we’re spinning out of control.

Nothing, and I mean nothing takes God by surprise. His foundation does not collapse when hard times hit. He knows the beginning from the end. He wasn’t shocked when I realized that my dad had gone on to his heavenly reward. The Lord knew the day and the very hour He was coming to take my dad home. But here I was, completely beside myself. But, there’s good news! God knows we are all too human. His Word says this about His kingdom and our final destination. “Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.” ‭‭(Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬) He IS the unshakable King! He is the giver of life. We, if we are His children, are in the very palm of His hand. Our only response is to be awestruck by the fact that nothing in this world can tear us away from Him. We may go through the fire, but we won’t be burned up. “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” (‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭31‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Jesus, Himself, told us this about our lives here on earth. “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭NLT‬‬) He lived a life of humanity but He was not shaken! He’s nailed everything that will ever taunt us to the cross. Obstacles went there to die. He defeated everything that the devil will ever throw at us. We are victorious because He IS victorious! Yes, we face hardships of every kind but they are defeated foes. “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.” (‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬) What a promise!

We are marching on towards our final destination and it will be glorious! Jesus sealed our place in Heaven because He could not be shaken by anything on this earth. What a Savior!

Have you ever just not known what to do in a situation? Am I the only one who overthinks every possible outcome? I dwell on the “what ifs” for so long that the original decision becomes almost extinct. Why do we do this? I think, possibly, it’s because we are trusting...
