The times we’re living in are certainly unpredictable. You can wake up on any given morning and things have completely changed in our world since you turned off the lights the night before. This brings a lot of uncertainty. And uncertainty brings a lot of anxiety with it. We want to know what’s going on. Not just a certain angle from a newscast or social media. We want rock solid facts. Where are the facts that we can live our lives by? Do we retire now? Do we go ahead and sell the house? What about insurance? What if my child decides to go another year at college? All of these questions are swirling around in our minds on a daily basis. It gets a little overwhelming to say the least! Uncertainty is not what we like. We like to be in control. This may just be the problem!

We’re either running the show or God is. That’s your choice. You’re on a very unstable throne with extremely limited insight or He is on His eternal, rock solid throne knowing the beginning from the end! Get real. Which sounds safer? He’s so gracious to us, though. He knows our minds will wander and we will often try to take the reins. He gives us a little insight into our uncertain situations. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:33 NLT) Ok! Pretty simple, right? It can be if we get “us” out of the way. He’s basically saying if we seek His kingdom first, this should lead to righteous living and then He (the Owner of all) will give us everything we need. Notice it does not say everything we want. He knows exactly what we need when we need it! We have to trust Him with the details.

People are searching for the right answers all over the place. The problem is, most of the time they’re looking from side to side instead of up! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9 NLT) God’s controlling this whole earth from up above. That’s where we go for help. We acknowledge Him first, let Him direct our paths and we will no doubt be taken care of. He has a better-than bird’s eye view! He sees it all. The sickness, unfairness, injustice etc. He can and will step into your situation if you will politely excuse yourself from the throne. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2 ESV) He has all power to provide any need you’ll ever have. He’s motivated by love to get involved. This is a win win!

It is not worth the agony of going through life trying to figure it all out. You will become tired, irritable and quite frankly, not too pleasant to be around. We all get that way sometimes. We think if I’ve already prayed about this issue, it should be over by now! This is our human way of reasoning. For your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Matthew 6:8 ESV) He knows exactly how it needs to be handled as well. This includes timing. His – not ours! Whatever you’re dealing with will end up exactly as it should if you will just relinquish control to the Mighty One.

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7:8 ESV) This is God’s Word. If He says it, He means it. I can’t tell you what the answer will look like. I certainly can’t even begin to guess the timeframe. I just know God is true to His Word. We can stand on this and be at peace for as long as the answers take to come. Or, we can stay tangled up in knots of anxiety, hoping we can figure out a plan. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. (Psalm 42:11 ESV) Don’t waste any more time searching.

A Prepared Table
