“God sits above the circle of the earth.” Isaiah 40:22 (NLT). STOP!! God’s not worried above the circle of the earth. He’s not afraid above the circle of the earth. He SITS above the circle of the earth. Does this mean that anything that’s over our heads is under His feet? Absolutely!

I think it’s fair to say that we live in an ever changing day by day world. You go to bed one night, wake up the next morning and everything is suddenly different. God, where are You?! Do you see the injustice in this world? He’s calm and collected while seated above the circle of the earth. No, He’s not worried. He’s not scared. He’s the Almighty God. He’s the great I AM. He is in full control. We’re starting to sweat it out a little bit but the Bible says “Heaven is My throne, and the earth is my footstool.” He’s literally relaxed and has His feet propped up on our planet! Try to get your mind around that. The whole earth is His footstool!!

I said all of that to say this – don’t worry. Don’t be afraid. This mighty God holds you in the very palm of His hand. Romans 8:31 (KJV) says, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Oh, there’s many that will try, but they will not prevail. God takes delight in taking care of His children. We are told in Isaiah once again that “no weapon turned against you will succeed.” This is not to be taken lightly. NO WEAPON will succeed. It doesn’t say that evil won’t come against us but it guarantees that it won’t succeed. The child of God has an “off limits” sign on your back in the spiritual realm. The enemy can mess with you but God defends you. You belong to Him! He’s never lost a fight and He won’t start now. We, as the Church, need to understand and get a more sufficient picture of who this God IS that we serve.

When Moses and the children of Israel were escaping Egypt, they came to a dead end. The Red Sea! What did our God do for them? He split it wide open and let them walk through on dry ground. When a few God fearing boys ended up in a fiery furnace for refusing to worship another, what did our God do? He joined them! Not one hair on them was burned. Most importantly, what did God do when He looked down on humanity and realized we could never measure up? He sent Jesus! I think we’re starting to get the right image.

Your mind is powerful. The Bible says “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you.” It doesn’t say to keep your mind on social media. It doesn’t say you’ll have peace if you keep your mind on the news. Stay focused on Him. Stay tuned in to what His Word has to say about adversity. If you will meditate on that, you will find yourself above the circumstances. Actually, that’s where God sees you anyway. You are in Him and He sits enthroned above all circumstances. Jesus said in the book of John, “In this world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” This is definitely good news. He’s overcome it for us. We go through this world as foreigners who aren’t home yet. However, we go through it with assurance of victory no matter what.

These are reasons to praise God in the storms of life. We know with absolute confidence that He is fighting our battles for us and He’s already won the ultimate victory. He tells the ocean how far it can come ashore. He brings forth the sun, moon and stars. He creates beauty out of ashes. He loves us with an everlasting love and will never let go. So, knowing this, the question is….how big is adversity?

God Bless!

A Prepared Table

When I was growing up, I loved Saturday mornings. A lot of the time, I would wake up to the smell of bacon cooking on the stove and biscuits in the oven. My dad loves to make breakfast. He still does. He’s very good at it too! He likes to have fruit, jams and all the...
