Have you ever just not known what to do in a situation? Am I the only one who overthinks every possible outcome? I dwell on the “what ifs” for so long that the original decision becomes almost extinct. Why do we do this? I think, possibly, it’s because we are trusting in our own strength to make the right decisions instead of trusting The Holy Spirit to guide us into the right decision. In our attempt to please God by doing “right”, we have a tendency to forget that God’s children have The Holy Spirit dwelling in us Who knows what’s right. ”For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.“ (‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬) Here’s the answer! If we have the “want to” to please God, He’s The One causing it! He’s also giving us the power it takes to override our flesh to do it! Great news!

I think we can get so caught up in not being in the true will of God that we stall out. Our decision becomes a “non” decision and then, for certain, we’re outside of His will. Not making a decision is not always an option. If our motives are pure, even if we take the wrong path, God will still make it work out in the end. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.“ (‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬) So, even if you’re confused about certain choice points, it’s going to be okay. The Lord will use everything to teach us. Our journeys, a lot of the time, take twists and turns. The Lord can cause divine delays in situations. His timing is always perfect. It may not be what we want, but He knows what He’s doing. He has an individual plan designed precisely for you. Isn’t it amazing that when we realize He’s in control, it takes so much pressure off of us?

When presented with options, God wants us to immediately consult Him in prayer. Talk it out with Him so you can get the circumstances out of your head and into more capable Hands. In your conversation with The Lord, sometimes He will reveal the answer as you’re explaining the conflict. ”My heart has heard you say, ‘Come and talk with me.’” And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’“ (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬) No matter what, we have to remember that He is with you on the mountain top and in the bottom of the valley (It’s these valley experiences where we tend to learn life’s toughest lessons). The valleys are where seeds of wisdom are planted. The valleys have the most fertile soil. God wants to grow a crop of goodness and integrity in you. After all, we represent Him in the earth.

Having to make choices in life makes us grow and mature. We can do things our way and a lot of the time, we end up in a ditch. We can do things God’s way, even if it seems hard, and come out better off for it. “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.“ (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37‬:‭23‬ ‭NLT‬‬) This is key! He delights in every single detail! The very One who hung the earth on nothing and put the stars in the sky, delights in every single thing that happens in your life. That’s pretty awesome! So run to Him when faced with decisions that have to be made. He will get you to where you’re supposed to be. It’s okay. Everyone gets conflicted from time to time.

Unless my parents promised something, which I would hold them to, they would say something like, “We might do that, but it’s not set in stone.” A lot of you may have heard that statement or even made it yourself. The term “set in stone” was made popular in the 18th...
