I think it’s fair to say that we live in a world of uncertainty. It’s like a series of waves in the sea. One day you’re in sync and riding them in the beautiful sunshine all the way to shore and the next they’re beating you back and forth with the threat of swallowing you up. Each day presents its own set of circumstances. Both good and bad arrive without a moment’s notice.

We sometimes find ourselves staring at the day before us and just want to climb back in bed and pull the covers over our heads. Go away problems. Be quiet bumper to bumper traffic! I don’t want to deal with you today!! Unfortunately, that’s not a reality for most of us. It’s called life and we have to face it.

I’m so thankful that we have hope. We do? Yes, we most certainly do! The psalmist in chapter 130 of the Holy Bible reminds us of this glorious hope.“I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on Him. I have put my hope in His Word” (NLT). That’s all fine and good you may say, but what does His Word have to say about hope? I’m glad you asked!

You can usually spot people right away that are hopeless. Their demeanor is sluggish. They don’t have a smile and usually don’t have too much to say to you. It’s obvious that the storms are brewing on the inside. We’re all that person from time to time, but the Word of God tells us that He, God, is a shield for us and the actual lifter of our heads! He’s saying to you – don’t be downcast. Look up!! Hold your head high. Don’t look out at surface level and get lost in all the problems. Look up to Me, your ever-present help in time of trouble. Psalm 121:1-3 says, “I look up to the mountains – does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!  He will not let you stumble. The one who watches over you will not slumber.”So there’s no reason to fear. He’s not going to let you falter and unlike us, He never sleeps! He’s always watching over His creation. He’s sitting above the circle of the earth. He’s looking down and can see the big picture. He knows the beginning from the end. He has plans to prosper us. Now that’s a God we can put our hope in. He wants us to succeed in this life!

The apostle Paul tells us in the book of 1 Timothy that our hope is in the living God. That’s right. He’s alive and well and ready to help you through any situation you face. He has the power to get you through and bring you out better on the other side. Keep striving. Keep believing in the good. I know our minds are bombarded daily with discouraging scenes and messages coming at us from every angle, but our Savior never changes. He’s more powerful than any circumstance or negative message that this world hurls at us. He brings the very good news of hope this world so desperately needs. He’s already overcome this very world for you and offers you the prize of belonging to Him. His supply of hope never runs out, and He wants you to have an abundant portion.

The very God that breathed breath into your nostrils, is cheering you on. He made you in His image. He knows your desire is to walk above the circumstances and not be beaten down. Go to Him and request His unlimited supply of grace. You’ll face today with confidence, tomorrow with a smile, the next day a spring in your step and before you know it, you’ll be surrounded by a world of hope.
